Episode 8: The hour that launched the Web
There were two critical moments in the development of the Web – and they had nothing to do with Google, Facebook or Silicon Valley.
In 1994, someone stuck a flag in the ground and said that the Internet was going to thrive as a DIRECT MARKETING medium.
(That would be me.)
Five years later, in 1999 two guys got together and worked out a SYSTEM for marketing on the Internet in a reliable, rational, repeatable way from testing and roll out.
(That would be me and Jonathan Mizel – the only other guy I know who was teaching online marketing in a credible way back in 1993.)
Twenty years later, the darn thing still works.
